Get active!

We need your support to make sure our campaigns are as effective as possible. Please become a grass roots campaigner for Freedom for Animals, and help us to raise awareness of the problems facing animals in captivity. There are lots of ways you can get involved – below are just some of them.

Vote with your feet

One of the easiest ways that you can support our work is by pledging not to visit zoos or animal circuses.

Click HERE for a list of animal-free circuses in Ireland.

Report a circus

Have you seen anything at an animal circus that concerned you?

Then let us know!

Many people do not realise that some circuses still use animals, and even then may visit the circus thinking that the animals are probably well cared for.

But members of the public regularly contact animal protection organisations to complain at the way animals are treated in circuses.

These reports are vital to assist us in exposing the treatment of animals in circuses.

If you have seen things in an animal circus that concern you, please let us know.  If you have animal welfare concerns about a specific circus, please click HERE to download and complete the attached form and send it to us on info@captiveanimals.org

Demonstrations

NARA demo

AFAR and NARA organise protests outside animal circuses whenever they are in the Dublin area, and further afield. If you would like to get actively involved in protests, or help at weekly information stand in the city centre, contact them at afar_ireland@yahoo.ie or info@naracampaigns.org

If you want to get involved with campaigns elsewhere in Ireland or want help in organising your own contact info@captiveanimals.org

Distribute leaflets

If there are no nearby zoos or circuses for you to demo outside, why not organise a town centre info stall instead? All you’ll need is a table, some helpers, and a smile; we’ll provide the rest. Simply order some free leaflets and let us know when your stall is, and we’ll make sure you have everything you need. If you’ve never organised a stall before and would like some advice, get in touch.

E-campaigning

You can raise awareness and help captive animals without even leaving the comfort of your sofa*. Many people now get their news from social networking sites. All you need to do, is make sure you click the icons at the bottom of the screen to follow Freedom for Animals on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube and share our stories, news and videos with your friends

Letter writing

Changing the way things work

Is an animal circus coming to your town? Would you like to do something about it?

Whether your from Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, you can work towards change by simply writing a letter.

Please click here to find out more about the value of letter writing and to download handy letter templates.

Contacting local newspapers

Writing a letter to your local newspaper is a great way of raising support for Freedom for Animals. Click here for advice and letter templates. If your letter gets printed, please buy an extra copy of the paper (or find a link to the online version) and send it to us so we can see!

* This only applies to people with laptops. I’m afraid those using a desktop would have to leave the sofa to reach their computer chair.
